According to Smart Growth America - an organization aimed at improving community health, safety, and prosperity - there were 264 pedestrian deaths in Jacksonville from 2016 to 2020. That's an average of 3.44 deaths per 100,000 people each year. Even from 2019 to 2020, pedestrian fatality rates increased by 3.9%. That's the highest increase since 1987.
