On Friday, a biker was killed after running into an SUV that was making a left turn. Then on Sunday, a truck merged into a man and a woman on a motorcycle. The man died at the hospital.
Friday's Fatality
The JSO reported on the crash that happened around 6:30 PM on Friday, August 30th at the intersection of Matthew Unger Drive and Casheros Cove near Kernan Boulevard South.
The biker was driving eastbound on Matthew Unger Drive. An SUV driving westbound made a left turn in front of the biker, and the two collided. The 31-year old male was thrown from the motorcycle.
"Based on the distance that the motorcycle traveled post-crash, I would expect that speed may be a factor," stated JSO Sergeant Robert Hungerford. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the hospital.
This marks the 17th motorcycle fatality in 2024.

Sunday's Fatality
A motorcycle crash killed a man and injured a woman passenger on Sunday afternoon when a truck merged into them on Merrill Road in Arlington around 2:30 PM.
The man and the woman passenger - both in their early 50s and wearing helmets - were traveling in the inside eastbound lane of Merrill Road. At the same time, the pickup truck was merging from the I-295 northbound exit ramp onto Merrill. JSO said the male driver of the truck then moved from the right lane to the left lane and struck the motorcycle.
Both riders were thrown from the motorcycle onto the pavement and center median. Jacksonville Fire and Rescue responded and rushed the patients to the hospital, where the man later died. The woman was in stable condition.
