Alisa Wilkes is honored to be featured as Attorney of the Month in the Fall 2024 edition of Attorney At Law Magazine.
Trailblazing the railroad industry
The feature highlights her work as a railroad injury attorney, as well as her experience balancing her role as a lawyer, a wife, and a mother—particularly in an industry that has historically been male-dominated.
But the story centers on something deeper: her why.
Her motivation to represent injured workers is rooted in a personal experience—her father’s serious injury while working in the railroad industry when she was young.

She recalls:
“He had no work, no income, and a series of trial-and-error jobs that left my dad depressed, ashamed, and stressed as he struggled to make ends meet. Although they did their best to protect us kids from the enormity of the situation, it was definitely a financial hardship.
“Later, when we were adults, we learned that there were Christmases when dad had to borrow money just to make sure there were presents under the tree. I know that took a toll on his pride and self-confidence.”
It took her father’s attorney five years to resolve the case.
Five years of stress in the home. Five years of uncertainty. Five years of waiting.
“Every minute counts when you’re waiting for a judgment that will put food on your table and keep the lights on,” she says.
That experience continues to shape how she approaches every case.
Her goal is simple: change the way people think about lawyers—and provide clarity and urgency during some of the most difficult moments in a person’s life.
